Aegires citrinus from Hawaii

November 12, 2003
From: Keoki Stender

Hi Bill,
Could you ID this little slug collected during the NOW-RAMP 2002 expedition to the Northwest Hawaiian Islands. Perhaps it's a Polycerid?

Date: Sept. 14, 2002
Location: Maro Reef
Habitat: Dead coral head, 10 meters
Length: 10mm

Thanks,
Keoki Stender

Dear Keoki,
This is Aegires citrinus. Although it looks quite like a polycerid, it is most closely related to species of the genus Notodoris, which are course much larger. I have had a quick look at the literature and can't see a record from Hawaii but I may be wrong.
Best wishes
