Black Aegires from the Marshall Islands

From: Scott Johnson

Hi Bill,
This little Aegires doesn't seem to match any of the species I'm familiar with, although it does have scattered small blue spots similar to A. exeches and A. punctilucens. I saw three of these at Enewetak Atoll, Marshall Islands, in the early 1980s. All were under chunks of dead coral on lagoon reefs at depths of 2-5 m.

Locality: Enewetak Atoll, Marshall Islands, Pacific. Depth: 2-5 m.Length: 5-7 mm. 9 October 1981 and 9 May 1983. Coral reef, under dead coral. Photographer: Scott Johnson
