Hi Bill,

This Chromodoris species is new to me and it's the first time I've seen it in the Oman area in 50+ dives. Can you indentify it?

Locality: "Wall Street", Bandar Khayran, 14 metres, Muscat, Oman, Arabian Sea, 01 November 2008, Coral on rocky wall. Length: 40mm. Photographer: Brian Mayes.

Kind Regards
Brian Mayes

Dear Brian,

This spectacularly coloured species is one I am calling Hypselodoris sp. 10. I think the position of the mantle glands [see earlier message #18984] and general body shape suggest it is a species of Hypselodoris rather than a Chromodoris, but of course the only way to be sure is to check its anatomy.

Best wishes,
Bill Rudman
