Another aglajid from Kerama Id, Japan

April 26, 2000
From: Atsushi Ono

Dear Bill
Here is another cephalaspid species from Kerama Is. near Okinawa in Japan. I think this is a Philine species.

This animal is light brown in color and has lateral brown stripes.

It was found at 7m depth on coral rubble (I moved this to an algae so as to see details clearly). This animal is 3mm long.

Could you help me to identify this?

Sincerely,
Atsushi Ono

Dear Atsushi,
As with your earlier message I'm afraid I can't identify this species either. The only aglajid with transverse lines like this is Philinopsis lineolata, but the pattern is rather different and this animal doesn't appear to be a juvenile.
Best wishes,
Bill Rudman.
