Diving in France

May 27, 1999
From: Christian Desprez

Dear Bill,

We were last week with my club on diving exploration in south of France (3 miles from St Raphaël and 10 miles from St Tropez at the charming town of Boulouris.

For the first time from the 23 years of my diving experience, I had observed some new species of slugs that I haven't never see before on this place.

On the dive named " The Pyramid and the Red Rock " 0,5 miles from the castel of Dramont I had observed more than 100 species of Hypselodoris coelestis in group of 10 to 20 species moving on sponge at a depth of 15 to 20 meters.

Secondly, on the place named " The Lion of the Sea " 3 miles in front of St Raphaël, I had observed also for the first time one specimen of Cratena peregrina at a depth of 42 meters.

For these dives, I would make some pictures with my Nikonos 5 and a lens of 35mm, but the bad weather of the last month doesn't give a good condition for picture. I am returning there next month and promise you to take some pictures then.

Friendly your's,
Christian Desprez

Dear Christian,
Thanks for the news. I look forward to some photos. Hopefully the animals will still be there when you return.
Best wishes,
Bill Rudman.
