Glossodoris sp. 9 from South Africa

June 9, 2001
From: Valda Fraser

Dear Bill
I watched this nudibranch crawl about for some time and I'm not sure that it is Glossodoris symmetricus :
• it's too small, although I suppose it may be a young one
• it moved without "ruffling" its entire mantle edge as I have noticed with G. symmetricus
• its foot is not edged with red
• its gills and rhinophores are more "sturdy".
I'd appreciate your comment.
Thanks.

Dear Valda,
I agree that it is unlikely to be Glossodoris symmetricus. I'm pretty sure it is a species of Glossodoris but without a look at its anatomy I can't be 100% sure. At this stage we can call it Glossodoris sp. 9.
Best wishes,
Bill
