Platydoris annulata
Dorgan, Valdes & Gosliner, 2002
Order: NUDIBRANCHIA
Suborder: DORIDINA
Superfamily: EUDORIDOIDEA
DISTRIBUTION
Known only from two records from deepwater off Philippines [166-172 m] and Thailand [303-313 m].
PHOTO
Locality: Andaman Sea, 303-313 m, Thailand, Indian Ocean, 22 February 2000, dredged with Agassiz trawl. Length: approx. 40 mm preserved. Photographer: Kathe Jensen.
The body is very flat and wide, as is usual in the genus, and the rhinophore and gill sheaths are elevated. In the original description the general colour of the preserved specimen is described as 'pale cream' but the photograph accompanying the description would be better describd as pale brown. There are a number of large dark brown rings, some of them irregular in shape, scattered over the dorsum, and each brown ring has a faint whitish ring outside. The underside is a uniform pale cream with no sign of darker markings. Platydoris ocellata also has dark brown rings, but they are much smaller and surround white spots. There are also differences in the reproductive anatomy.

Dear Bill,
The link to Platydoris annulata is broken. It appears that there is no Factsheet for this species.

Thanks for drawing my attention to this. I apparently didn't prepare a Fact Sheet for this species because I had no photo to use. Kathe's photos have solved the problem.
Best wishes,
